Showcase Teacher: Jennifer Fair!

Jennifer Fair is part of the Fourth Grade Team at Sommer Elementary. Ms. Fair uses technology throughout her day and places emphasis on the importance of it with her students. She is always looking for new resources and ways to use in as part of her lessons and activities!

What is a favorite lesson that you do that incorporates technology?

We start each school year with a class read aloud of School Story. In it the main character wants to get her story published and has to create a pen name. We introduce blogs at this point and the students create their own pen names and then get to blog about the book as we read through it. The blogging carries over to the other class read alouds that we do throughout the rest of the school year.

What is the one instructional technology that you feel you could no longer live without?

Computer access for students

If wishes could come true, what technology would you want to have available in your classroom to enhance instruction?

One laptop for every student

What are your thoughts on using technology in the classroom as part of instruction?

It's important that the students have access to technology because it's a huge part of their lives. They need to be proficient typist's and have a good knowledge of how to use various programs.
