Showcase Teacher: Crystal Larson!

Crystal Larson is part of the Second Grade Team at Sommer Elementary. Ms. Larson is excited about technology and always looking for ways to incorporate it into lessons to get students motivated about learning in her classroom.

Here are a few ways that she uses technology:

  • Powerpoint
  • Document Camera
    • students demonstrate math daily
  • Word projects
  • Laptops
  • Animoto projects
  • Online Resources
  • Research projects
What is a favorite lesson that you do that incorporates technology?
The students use Animoto, a web 2.0 resource, as a way to present their work rather than powerpoint. I love Animoto because it is easy for use but it is something the students haven't experienced before.

What is the one instructional technology that you feel you could no longer live without?
The document camera

If wishes could come true, what technology would you want to have available in your classroom to enhance instruction?
A Promethean Board

What are your thoughts on using technology in the classroom as part of instruction?
Since students are exposed to technology so much in their everyday lives, it is essential to have technology available and used in the classroom. It's important to make technology work for you, instead of against you. I use technology everyday in my classroom. Technology and teaching go hand in hand!
