Slates in action!

In Mr. Vasek's Second Grade class, students are using the slate to interact with and reinforce math concepts. In one recent lesson, students took turns interacting with a flipchart on even numbers. They circled the even part of double and triple digit numbers. They created partners with smiley faces that were part of the flipchart page. Then they classified numbers as odd or even. Students were engaged and excited to take a turn. It was neat to see how encouraging they were to one another. They used a number line to discover doubles and then identified a pattern. Great lesson!
